Moulaye Sarr (b. 1967, Chilla, The Gambia) is an acclaimed contemporary painter based in Ebo Town. His artistic talent was evident from early childhood, when he began sketching cartoon characters in primary school. As a young man, he spent seven years in neighboring Senegal, where he trained informally in the workshops of prominent local masters, deeply enriching his understanding of West African visual languages.

Sarr's work is celebrated for its highly colorful, vibrant compositions that masterfully reduce traditional African patterns to their abstract essence. He works across a wide variety of media, creating two-dimensional abstract forms and striking portraiture using acrylics on canvas, oils, pencil, charcoal, and sand, as well as experimenting with textile design. His large-scale public murals have gained international recognition, including a high-profile commission paying tribute to African women for The Crystal Ship 2023 festival in Oostende, Belgium.

Passionate about community development, Sarr considers mentoring the next generation of creators to be a core purpose of his practice, actively training young assistants in complex fine art techniques in his studio. His works are featured in prominent spaces such as the Lemonfish Art Gallery and the international Imago Mundi Collection. In May 2026, Sarr further solidified his position in the contemporary scene by joining the ART27 Artist Group, entering their prestigious residency program to foster artistic innovation and collaboration.
