Heather Roberts is a multidisciplinary artist and dedicated educator with over 30 years of experience as a primary school teacher in the United Kingdom. Her career also includes serving as an art tutor and temporary primary teacher at the Banjul American International School (BAIS) in Bakau/Fajara in 2009. Driven by a lifelong passion for sharing the arts, Roberts has organized and tutored numerous art and craft workshops for both adults and children across England and The Gambia.

For 16 years, Roberts and her Gambian husband successfully owned and managed the Farakunku Lodges in Tujereng. The property featured an attached art studio and gallery, providing a vibrant space where she hosted creative workshops and shared her love for art with guests from around the world. Since selling the business in 2024, she has relocated to a new home in Sanyang, establishing a cozy in-house studio. Here, she continues to explore new ideas, painting regularly with mixed media, acrylics, and oils, while also creating mosaics, printmaking, and acrylic pours.

Deeply committed to her community, Roberts founded the Farakunku Foundation in 2012. The charity sponsors local children by funding their school fees, books, and uniforms from nursery school all the way through to Grade 12.

Roberts has successfully exhibited and sold her artwork through her local art group and community venues in the UK. She joined the ART27 group in January 2026, where she continues to collaborate with fellow creators and foster cultural exchange in Sanyang.
