Ferenc Donderer (b. 1960, Cologne, Germany) is an established visual artist with over 40 years of professional practice in painting and street photography. Since 2016, he has been based in The Gambia, where his creative practice is centered at his atelier and workshop spaces in Sanyang. His work has been exhibited internationally in major cultural hubs, including Cologne, Berlin, Antwerp, Salvador de Bahia, and New York.

As a passionate collector of international and African art, Donderer actively champions local talent and has curated numerous exhibitions over the past decade. His artistic vision is deeply informed by the raw energy of Outsider Art (Art Brut) and the legacies of modern masters such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Mark Rothko, Howard Hodgkin, Julian Schnabel, Gerhard Richter, Franz Kline, Tracey Emin, Julian Opie, Pat Steir, Rose Wylie, and Robert Motherwell.

Donderer's works are held in prestigious institutional collections, including the LVR-LandesMuseum (Rheinische Landesmuseum) in Bonn/Cologne, Germany.

He is an active member of the National Centre for Arts and Culture (NCAC) in The Gambia. In December 2024, he furthered his commitment to the local art community by founding ART27 – Visual Arts Promotion, a dedicated atelier and workshop space in Sanyang designed to empower contemporary Gambian artists and foster international cultural exchange.
